Kakuro Kakuro
How to play Kakuro
Kakuro is similar to both sudoku and traditional crossword games.
Like a Crossword
Similar to crosswords, Kakuro has clues both across and down. When you put numbers in the vacant squares, the sum must equal the given clues. This is why the game is sometimes called 'cross sums'.
Like a Sudoku
Just like a sudoku, you cannot have the same number in a row or column. If a row is broken into 2 areas by a clue, then you can have the same number occuring once in each of the separate areas.

Talk about anything and everything, but nice to each other - you don't have to agree, but this is not the place for personal attacks. As Sir Paul McCartney said: 'I used to think anyone doing anything weird was weird. Now I know that it is the people that call others weird that are weird' (longer explanation). Enjoy!
needed orphans and a few short in-head chains. quite enjoyed this puzzle, but am wondering if it didn't have a no-chain-at-all solution?

I think it is a 'gray' area between what is a mental chain, and what is logic. I finally eliminated all of the possible 6's from 23A by what I call logic by observing each possible 6 did not lead to an allowable solution for 17D. I didn't say if a=6 then b then c then ... for a contradiction, but More...

Only took me 3 minutes after I stared at it for 12 minutes and decided to use orphans. Guess I worked out all the hard parts subconsciously.

With orphans and a chain

Thought it was straitforward with orphans. No chains just logic eliminations.

Oops. Straightforward.

Orphans and a chain / guess on 23A, 2019

Straoghtforward with orphans. 6 in 21 forces cross of 5 in 15 and 17, that forces 23 to have 8.
