Kakuro Kakuro
How to play Kakuro
Kakuro is similar to both sudoku and traditional crossword games.
Like a Crossword
Similar to crosswords, Kakuro has clues both across and down. When you put numbers in the vacant squares, the sum must equal the given clues. This is why the game is sometimes called 'cross sums'.
Like a Sudoku
Just like a sudoku, you cannot have the same number in a row or column. If a row is broken into 2 areas by a clue, then you can have the same number occuring once in each of the separate areas.

Talk about anything and everything, but nice to each other - you don't have to agree, but this is not the place for personal attacks. As Sir Paul McCartney said: 'I used to think anyone doing anything weird was weird. Now I know that it is the people that call others weird that are weird' (longer explanation). Enjoy!
Not exactly easy when you have to take a guess as a first move and go almost to the end to find out that you are right or wrong. There is no logical start.

I'm surprised you don't know what orphans are, Coto since I've seen you here a fair amount of times they're the fringe squares that aren't part of 2 sums, both row and column calculating their sum usually helps a lot in elimination.

Sorry, my english isn't up to 'orphans' and 'fringe squares that aren't part of 2 sums'.
What you call row and column is that what I call Across and Down. Can you give an example or is that over asked?

Toughest easy ever. No orphans needed. Just a lot of time.

I've recently started to use a technique I've known about for quite a while but sort of considered 'cheating': in this puzzle, you know that that the squares coming out of the upper right and lower left corners are 9 and 11. this helps with getting going in the center of the grid. choosing a More...

somehow I spent 14 minutes on this most difficult easy - made a mistake calculating orphans (one need only look at the 4 squares in the middle and the 2 orphans coming out of that part of the puzzle to make a few eliminations)
